Sam Farok: "Momentum replaces motivation when discipline leads"

Sam Farok is a professional bare-knuckle fighter competing under K.O.T.S., based in the United Kingdom. Behind the fights is a set of unglamorous, repeated daily rules — the kind that don't show up on a highlight reel but decide who's still standing when it counts.

What is one rule you never break in camp — no matter how you feel?

I don't lie to the work. If the schedule says train, I train. Mood doesn't get a vote. Showing up is how trust with myself is built, and once that trust is broken, everything slips.

When you became dangerous as a fighter, was it because you did more — or because you did less, but better?

It happened when I stripped things down. I stopped collecting techniques and started refining habits. The danger came from clarity — knowing exactly what to do and executing it without hesitation.

What do you do on days when motivation is gone, but quitting is not an option?

I act before I think. Thinking opens the door to excuses. I start moving, even if it's slow and ugly.

Momentum replaces motivation when discipline leads.
What personal rule keeps you sharp when pressure is highest?

I control my breathing and my posture. If those stay steady, my decisions stay clean. Pressure only overwhelms you when your body shows it first.

What did you have to cut out of your life to truly move forward as a fighter?

I removed anything that softened my edge — unnecessary social noise, late nights, and people who wanted access without respecting the sacrifice. Progress demanded fewer voices and more silence.

When is a training session successful for you — beyond rounds, weight, or time?

When I leave knowing I stayed present while it was uncomfortable. If I didn't drift, rush, or mentally check out, the session did its job — even if nothing looked impressive.
